Transhumant Merino Wool Blanket

The Granite bed blanket is made from transhumant Merino wool, one of the most highly valued natural fibres for its softness, thermal regulation properties and outstanding durability. Its design is rooted in a commitment to Spanish wool tradition and the preservation of a heritage that has connected nature, livestock farming and textile craftsmanship for centuries.

The name of the collection, 90 Varas, refers to the traditional width of the Castilian cañadas reales (Royal Drovers’ Roads), approximately 75 metres wide, along which Merino sheep flocks travelled each year during transhumance between winter and summer pastures. These historic routes remain a symbol of biodiversity, sustainability and respect for the natural environment. Choosing transhumant Merino wool helps preserve this practice and supports the shepherds who continue to walk these ancestral paths.

Each blanket is woven in Grazalema, a village in the Sierra de Cádiz renowned for its historic textile tradition. For centuries, local artisans have transformed wool into high-quality textiles, preserving techniques and knowledge passed down through generations. This heritage makes Grazalema one of the key references in the Spanish wool industry, with each blanket reflecting a living cultural craft.
